Sedona’s Subtle Vortex Energies

May 12, 2011 in Uncategorized

Red Rocks of Sedona, AZNot only is Sedona, AZ well known for its beautiful red rock scenery and its metaphysical community, but it is also the home of mysterious energy vortexes. There are several vortexes in the area, which also includes the Village of Oak Creek, but four of these stand out as the strongest. Their locations are the Sedona airport, Red Rock Crossing (Cathedral Rock), Boynton Canyon, and Bell Rock.

The vortexes are very popular places to visit by tourists, and a number of tours and vacation packages are offered. People will usually experience the subtle energy of the vortex in different ways, depending on their sensitivity to such energies. Even if you are not able to sense this energy, the scenery along the way is always inspiring.

– By the way, Sedona locals call them vortexes, not the accepted plural form of vortices. –

Think of the vortex as an inverted cone or funnel shape, such as a tornado or water going down the drain. Instead of consisting of swirling water or air, they consist of a subtle spiritual energy. This energy is said to resonate with a person’s own spiritual energy, energizing them and strengthening their inner essence. You can tell if you are in the vicinity of a vortex by examining juniper tress in the area. Strong vortex energy causes growth in a spiral direction along the trunk and branches.

Vortex energy is classified as masculine, feminine, and a combination of both called balanced. Each refers to the type of personal energy strengthened by the vortex’s energy. Characteristics of masculine energy are decisiveness, self-confidence, and a willingness to take action when appropriate. Feminine energy is characterized by patience, kindness, compassion, and dependability. An equal influence of masculine and feminine energies is referred to as balanced. Some characteristics of balanced energy are respect for others, fairness, and an overall ability to make relationships work.

If your own spiritual energy is out of balance or your want to strengthen you masculine or feminine energies, you need to visit the vortex that exhibits that particular energy.

Here is a list of the main vortexes in the Sedona area and their respective energy types:

  • Airport Vortex – Masculine
  • Red Rock Crossing/Cathedral Rock Vortex – Feminine
  • Boynton Canyon Vortex – Balanced
  • Bell Rock Vortex – Masculine
